Tips to Make a Career Change
1. Do you really need a career change?
You might be currently unhappy or frustrated with your job; unsatisfied with its results or impact, and wanting to do more. But, are you sure that a career change is what you need? Maybe all you need is a new job.
So, don’t be too quick to make the decision to change your career. Take all the time you need to evaluate your current position and job, and to consider and go through your options before making the decision to start a whole new career from scratch.
2. Have you figured out your chosen new career?
You might have made the decision to change your career with another one already in mind. If so, all you have to do is to know more about your chosen field, to be up-to-date with all its trends, and to learn any new skill needed to succeed in it.
On the other hand, you could have just reached the point where you know you need a change of career, you just don’t know in which direction.
In this case, this will be your time to discover. Meet new people, talk to your friends and relatives who work in different fields, look for something that you have always loved to do that can be turned into a career, and so on. You can even start by doing different small jobs on the side until you find what you have been looking for.
3. Career Changes aren’t Immediate:
Take it one step at a time.
You might have finally made the decision to change your career, but it is still better that you take your time and move gradually towards achieving the complete change.
You can start by going to workshops, taking courses, meeting and talking with people who have made similar career decisions, as well as people in your new career.
